Southern Cone Sampler

Dive into the language of South American culture wine in Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay. 8N / 9D during the Southern Cone’s annual grape (wine) harvest in fall

On this women’s group and food-and-wine triple-header, sip your way across the Southern Cone’s wine regions of Chile, Mendoza (Argentina), and Uruguay during the annual grape harvest meeting the region’s iconic female winemakers, chefs, and tastemakers along with a dose of self pampering.

Start in Chile’s Mediterranean in the capital of Santiago with the wine country just outside the city. The wines are as diverse as the landscapes from the Pacific coast to Andean Piedmont and Zingy whites, earthy Carmenere and benchmark Cabernet. Dine with women winemakers blazing the trail in Chile and female chefs interpreting Chile’s diverse ingredients.

Hop across the majestic Andes to Argentina’s wine capital, Mendoza, where the altitude is higher, the climate continental and the wines become Malbec, Cab Franc, and whites like Semillon and Torrontes. Get to know the next generation of women winemakers pushing the envelope with fresher, food-loving wines while also taking notes from wine legends.  Savor an open air asado (barbecue) at the feet of the Andes and indulge in our hotel’s on-site hamam (spa) for some well deserved pampering.

The final stop is Uruguay, a small wine producing country on the Atlantic coast. Touch down in Montevideo and explore an area where the grape superstars are Tannat, a robust red, and the creamy white, Albariño. Smaller in scale, commune with the winemaking families whose grandparents arrived from Europe only with vines and a dream. Break bread with them and say ‘salud’ to the beautiful way wine brings people, and including women travelers, together.
