I have been in a bit of an introspective mode recently. Perhaps it is the change and growth in our business, living in the new, interim apartment, and the amazing process of watching nature rebirth herself in early Spring. This morning at the gym, as I watched the sunrise over the Andes and light up Santiago like a golden lantern, I listened to one of the most brillant speeches. On my ipod was David Neagle, a master coach and business strategist, as he discussed true success and getting from where we are to where we want to go (in a nutshell). He ended with a poem that really moved me and opened my eyes to paying more attention to the uniqueness of everything that surrounds us.
We all forget and run through life some times, as if it was a race. It was so necessary to stop and appreciate how unique every single “natural” thing is: rain drops, trees leaves, blades of glass, my two feet, my kitties, my friend’s new baby, the stack of ripe tomatoes sitting on my kitchen counter. If we look for this in the realm of wine, which is all about unique expression, how each vine transmits the soil and climate differently, each barrel steve hails from a unique tree and forest in France, the understanding of the winemaker himself of how to blend these ingredients together in his own unique creation. Wine is another expression of this.
My intent is posting this is simply to share a little inspiration today as we near the weekend. Thanks to you all for joining me on this voyage and sharing your unique views–it means a lot.
One and Only You
By James T. Moore
Every single blade of grass,
And every flake of snow,
Is just a wee bit different…
There’s no two alike, you know.
From something small like grains of sand,
To each gigantic star
All were made with this in mind,
To be just what they are!
How foolish then, to imitate,
How useless to pretend!
Since each of us comes from a mind
Whose ideas never end.
There’ll only be just one of me;
To show what I can do
And you should likewise feel very proud,
There’s only one of you.
That is where it all starts
With you, a wonderful unlimited human being.
