Austria: Cuisine, Culture & Winelands

Oh, Austria – a land where grandeur dances with centuries-old traditions. Join us on this journey as we rediscover the essence of a land that has mastered the art of savoring life’s finer pleasures from the elegance of Vienna to the sun-drenched vineyards that drape the valleys of Wachau, Burgenland, and Mediterranean Styria, often touted as Austria’s version of Tuscany.

Beyond the renowned cultural and architectural marvels that adorn the imperial city of Vienna, lies a larger country, and people, wove together by a love of viticulture and food, where the rolling hills and verdant valleys have nurtured generations of local vintners.

Basing in the heart of Vienna, and then at a private winery in southern Styria on the border with Slovenia, we will explore the hidden gems and customs that have defined Austria’s cultural tapestry, from private visits with artisans and chefs to behind-the-scenes winery visits and al fresco lunches in the vineyards to celebrate the height of the glorious Austrian summer.

Meander through the Wachau Valley, where the Danube River winds its way through charming villages and ancient monasteries, its waters mirroring the storybook landscapes. Bask in the slopes of Burgenland, where the vines seem to stretch endlessly towards the horizon, and lose yourself in the rolling hills of Styria, where we will immerse ourselves in the rhythms of rural life, closer to Slovenia than Vienna, connecting with the warm hospitality of the southern people and savoring the flavors that have been shaped by generations of culinary traditions.

This journey is a harmonious interplay of history, culture, and indulgence, where every moment is a celebration of Austria’s spirit.

Uruguay’s Quintessential White Wine
