Hungary, The Golden Danube

Hungary is a study in contrasts where old-world elegance meets reminiscences of the iron curtain. From Budapest’s majestic boulevards and grand cafés to the volcanic hills of Tokaj, this journey invites you into a richly layered culture where food, wine, and history are deeply intertwined.

We begin in the capital with a deep dive into Hungary’s culinary and cultural heritage—exploring lively markets, ornate coffee houses, and the city’s Jewish and Ottoman past. Evenings bring refined tastings and Michelin-starred meals that showcase the country’s new generation of chefs and sommeliers reimagining tradition with precision and soul.

From there, we travel through the countryside to uncover Hungary’s winemaking heart. In Eger and Tokaj, private visits to celebrated cellars, hands-on barrel-making, and intimate terroir dinners reveal the diversity and depth of Hungarian wine—from elegant reds to the golden sweetness of Aszú and crispy dry Furmint wines. Along the way, we’re welcomed by passionate producers in vineyard homes, caves, and contemporary estates.

Our final day takes us to the serene shores of Lake Balaton to explore those volcanic soils with a lakeside tasting and boat ride. Rooted in place, rich in story, and full of surprises, Hungary is a destination that captivates—and lingers long after the last glass is poured.
