Abby, xmas commercialism has grown here lots in recent years relative to what it was before. However, I avoid the mall and supermarkets like Jumbo like the plague and have a "low information diet", meaning that I don't watch the news and only peruse headlines of select newspapers. As of late, I have been making christmas gifts or gifting experiences to people (horseback riding, meals, etc.). I think we all make Christmas what we focus on. Have a great trip home. My dad is headed to Vermont to enjoy a White xmas! Buen viaje.

Fantastic! And I had just walked over to turn on the heater in the office as it was getting a bit chilly after the sun went away her in Texas. Enjoy the beach and the very best of the Holiday Season to you and yours. Maybe in a year or so I can convince myself to be in the "heat" for the Holidays.

Sounds like Christmas in Hawaii. Lots of new surf boards hitting the waves on the 25th.

Mele Kalikimaka and Hauoli Makahiki Hou!

mmmmm....Cola de Mono. I was just thinking about this yesterday. My wife and her sister were hitting the fridge and sipping the mono Christmas morning to go with the pan de pasqua. Her grandmother showed us how to make the cola de mono from scratch that trip. I was thinking on it because I think that I still have a bottle of aguardiente stashed in my parents basement.
Fireworks all along the beachfront from the hotel in Serena to the pier in Coquimbo on New Year's eve. Awesome view from up on the hill, as long as there is no sea fog.
Enjoy the holidays!
