In reply to <a href="https://lizcaskey.com/travel-2/funky-ethnic-vibrant-patronato/#comment-19623">Natalie</a>.

You can find fish sauce everywhere now, even in the supermarkets like Jumbo (although very marked up). I buy fresh lemongrass in La Vega from the Peruvian stalls, Lider occasionally has it and Chinese Mark on Merced (b/t Miraflores & Mosqueto) and the places on Patronato should have it dried. I use this in Thai curry and you cannot tell too much the difference. Chinese Mark also has dried galangal and all the exotic Chinese / SE Asian ingredients like black vinegar, everything for moshu pork, homemade tofu, etc. Suerte.

I am hearing so many good things about this Vietnamese restaurant (Vietnam Discovery) I have to bribe, steal, blackmail my way there one day.

The photos of the kebabs took me back to my youth in the UK, drunk from a pub at 11pm needing food, those style kebabs were all we could get. Thanks for that memory, but no thanks to trying one again
